At Freedom Protocol, operated by Freedom Protocol Ghana Limited Company(a limited liability company incorporated in the Republic of Ghana), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our community platform (“Community Hub”) and services. Freedom Protocol also operates the Freedom Protocol Care App (“Care App”), a separate clinical platform for telemedicine and health tracking; the Care App has its own privacy practices. By using the Community Hub, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Freedom Protocol is a proprietary health platform developed and operated by Freedom Protocol Ghana Limited Company.
1. Information We Collect
Personal Information
- Name, email address, phone number
- Region, district, and location preferences
- Profile photo and biographical information
- Account credentials (securely hashed)
Health-Related Information
- Self-reported health conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension)
- Community group memberships by condition
- Discussion posts and questions related to health topics
- Event registration and attendance records
Technical Information
- IP address and device information
- Browser type and operating system
- Usage data and analytics
- Cookies and tracking technologies
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and maintain our community platform
- Connect you with relevant community groups by region, district, and condition
- Facilitate discussions, events, and health resources
- Connect you with verified health professionals in the directory and, where applicable, enable you to access clinical consultations via the Care App
- Send event notifications and community updates
- Improve our platform and user experience
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements
- Protect against fraud and unauthorised access
- Conduct anonymised research and analytics
Note:Data collected through the Community Hub is not automatically shared with doctors on the Care App. Clinical consultations through the Care App involve a separate data relationship governed by the practitioner's own professional obligations and the Care App's privacy terms.
3. Third-Party Authentication
Freedom Protocol offers sign-in via Google and Facebook. When you use these services, we receive limited profile information (name, email, profile photo) as authorised by you. We do not access your social media contacts, posts, or private messages. Please review the privacy policies of Google and Facebook for their data practices.
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We share your information only:
- With Health Professionals:Verified professionals in the community can see your public profile and community posts. Clinical data shared during Care App consultations is governed separately by the practitioner's professional obligations.
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorise information sharing.
- For Legal Compliance: When required by law, court order, or regulatory authority.
- For Platform Operations: With trusted service providers under strict confidentiality agreements.
- In Emergencies: When necessary to protect vital interests or public health.
We NEVER sell your personal or health information to third parties.
5. Data Security
- Encryption for all data in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
- Secure cloud infrastructure with enterprise-grade hosting
- Multi-factor authentication support
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Role-based access controls for platform administrators
- Compliance with Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)
6. Your Rights and Choices
Under the Ghana Data Protection Act and applicable international regulations, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal requirements)
- Object to certain processing activities
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Request data portability
- Lodge a complaint with the Ghana Data Protection Commission
7. Data Retention
- Account information: Retained while your account is active
- Community posts and discussions: Retained unless you request deletion
- Anonymised data: May be retained indefinitely for research and platform improvement
- You may request deletion at any time, subject to legal obligations
8. Ghana Data Protection Compliance
Freedom Protocol complies with the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and regulations issued by the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. We are committed to registering as a data controller with the Commission and ensuring all data processing activities meet the requirements of the Act.
9. International Data Transfers
Our platform infrastructure may process data in jurisdictions outside Ghana. Where this occurs, we ensure adequate safeguards are in place in compliance with the Ghana Data Protection Act and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
10. Children's Privacy
Freedom Protocol is not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use our platform.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
